For those who followed him, it was a very sad and confusing time. They believed they had lost someone important.
A quiet and uncertain time
After Jesus died, his body was placed in a tomb. A large stone was rolled in front of the entrance.
The next day was quiet. His followers were unsure of what would happen next and were filled with sadness.
It seemed like the story had come to an end, but something surprising was about to happen.
Easter Sunday: A message of hope
On the third day, the tomb was found open. Jesus was no longer inside, and people began to realise that he had come back to life.
This moment is known as the resurrection. It is the reason Easter Sunday is celebrated with such joy.
The Easter story moves from sadness to hope. It is remembered as a time of new beginnings and the belief that light can follow even the darkest moments.
