Get ready for a Lego adventure like no other

If you love Lego, you’ll want to hear this: the biggest Legoland in the world is opening in Shanghai, China! It’s called Legoland Shanghai Resort, and it’s filled with colourful bricks, exciting rides, and amazing mini worlds made entirely from Lego.

The park opens on 5 July, but some lucky visitors got to try it early during trial days in June. This massive theme park is part of Shanghai’s plan to become one of the top travel spots in the world, and with Lego involved, it’s off to a great start.

A city of bricks and imagination

This isn’t just any theme park. The Legoland Shanghai Resort covers 318,000 square metres, that’s about the size of 44 football fields! Inside, there are eight themed zones, including Ninjago Land, Lego Friends World and Monkie Kid Land.

Visitors can explore 75 rides and attractions, many of them interactive. You can build, ride, play, splash, and even sleep over, the resort includes a 250-room Lego-themed hotel!

A mini Shanghai made of Lego

One of the coolest parts of the park is a miniature version of Shanghai, built completely from Lego bricks. You can see Lego skyscrapers, the famous Bund promenade, and the city’s shiny Lujiazui financial district. It’s all inside a special area called Miniland.

Guess how many bricks were used in the park? Over 85 million! That’s enough to build a tower taller than the real ones in the city.

China loves Lego

Lego started in Denmark, but it’s become incredibly popular in China. There are already more than 400 Lego shops in the country. This park is the first full-size Legoland in China — and it’s also the 11th Legoland in the world.

Companies from China, Europe, and the UK worked together to build it, including Merlin Entertainments, who run Legolands across the globe.

Millions expected to visit

The park is ready to welcome around 2.4 million visitors every year. The local government says up to 8,000 people a day could come to build, ride and explore. And with 5,200 hotel rooms nearby, families can stay and enjoy even more Lego fun.
